Main issues:
Global Warming, Water Pollution, and Roads
We want a clean and safe environment to live in with healthy conditions and less pollution. There should be firmer regulations for factories and transportation emissions in order to cut back on the amount of pollution being released into the air. More public transportation should also become available to reduce pollution. We also believe that testing of the air and amount of pollution present should be required by states and cities.
We
want clean, bacteria-free water to drink and swim in.
We recommend mandatory testing of all waters for bacteria and other
pollutants. Those waters that
test positive should be required to close the water from the public and
immediately resolve the problem.
We also recommend stricter laws against those who pollute the waters.
We want safe, pothole-free roads to drive on.
We need to begin fixing roads when potholes and other problems are
first noted rather than waiting until the road get to be in extremely poor
condition. We need to use
less of the “throw and go” method in which potholes are simply filled,
and begin cutting out sections of the road that need repair and replacing
it with new slabs of concrete. The
weight limit for semi-trucks should be lowered to avoid damage to roads
and we need more efficient use of the budget set for road repairs.
Rather than paying 8 or so different construction workers to fix
the same couple potholes, they should be separated to get more work done
in a shorter period of time.
